"Reefs of Iron"
director Sue Daly, UK
Exploring the natural history is not that easy, but exploring the underwater world under totally difficult and different conditions is a challenge on it's own. The jury found this film in all its aspects excellent. The combination of storytelling, photography, the editing and the music kept us watching till the bottom of the sea.

 Category "Man and Nature"
"The Pearls of the Baltic Sea 5 – Hailuoto"
director Petteri Saario, Finland
The sea connects and disconnects. In this film the sea does not only connect an island with the mainland but also its past with the present day. There is a harmony between the visuality and the message of the film, and it makes us understand more about the life of islanders and their great love of the island. A beautiful and warm film, which makes us stop in the busy world of ours.

"Talking with Fishes"

The underwater world is mystic and for many people an uncertain area, but why? We often do not know and do not understand all these marine animals. The effort of the crew, the new approach, the touchy moments, the tension of this innovative portrayal, to find out do these animals feel, do they enjoy, recognize, learn or remember.

 Category "Man and Nature"
"Songs of Coastal Meadows"

"Secrets of the Adriatic"
director Michael Schlamberger, Austria
The difficult task of the director is to create a film of all the material and thoughts of the initial idea. Here the director faced different challenges than in a typical wildlife film. In addition to the realm of animals and plants, he had to keep an eye on a long and complicated history of the area and its cultural heritage. The result is a film that gives us a new understanding of the dimensions of a beautiful area and teaches us more about nature and our world.
