The OvaHimba are a unique indigenous people living in northern Namibia. The OvaHimba women follow the traditions by covering their skin with a mixture of ochre, animal fat and herbs. Their long braids are also covered in the ochre cream. The red color is symbolic and represents the blood of life and the red of the earth. Christofer Wärnlöf is a Swedish anthropologist who has been studying the OvaHimba for over 25 years.
