Namibia is twice the size of Germany but has a population of just two million people. No other African country potentially has so much space for wild animals. Conflicts between humans and wild animals are on the increase, and poaching has recently become a major challenge. Rhinoceroses and elephants are at the greatest risk from these developments. There is, however, cause for hope: experts from government ministries, biologists and resourceful private businesspeople have developed fascinating strategies to save these icons of African wildlife.
