This film explores the political and conservationist angles of lion trophy hunting in South Africa. Lions face several battles for their survival but since the controversial news of Cecil the lion's hunt in Zimbabwe, trophy hunting has created a heated debate. Land of Kings follows a professional hunter on a quest to reveal the whole process of this hidden but legal practice, as well as the work of NGOs, CITES, and local communities in a fight to preserve the last 20,000 lions in Africa.
Is lion trophy hunting contributing to the decline of lions or is it actually helping its conservation?
